UUARC would like to acquaint you, the public, with our Program of Senior "Adoption" - financial aid to the elderly in Ukraine. This project deals with assistance to the weak, ill and poverty-stricken elderly - an often forgotten and neglected segment of the Ukrainian population.

UUARC's offices in Ukraine have long lists of the elderly who require financial assistance to augment the sporadically-paid pensions they are entitled to. Even when they receive these pensions, these people remain below the poverty level. Among them are former scientists, artists and teachers, former dissidents who have returned from the gulags of Siberia to empty homes and decimated families, as well as those elderly who have no income or are invalids.

While UUARC has been sustaining a number of such individuals for years, we would like to offer sponsorships of such elderly persons to the public. For $15.00 per month you can help raise the lives of these senior citizens to subsistence level. We can provide sponsors with the name and address of the person or couple and you can maintain a relationship with them.

We suggest that this can be made into a family project - what better way to introduce your children or grandchildren to a social conscience, than having them open their lives to a "Babusia" or "Didus" in Ukraine?

Every penny counts in all of our lives, but the $15.00 that we spend on luxuries will give these poor people food and heat for a month! What a difference you could make to them!
