was founded in 1944 to help
the many Ukrainian refugees
coming to America after World
War II. Since that time,
Ukrainians throughout the world
have been helped in many, many
ways. As a bona fide non-profit
organization recognized by the
IRS under Article 501 (c ) (3),
and registered with USAID, UUARC
is able to provide humanitarian
aid to Ukrainians in Ukraine,
Romania, Poland, Kazakhstan,
Brazil, Argentina and the US.
Our programs are far-reaching
and varied, and aim to help our
brothers help themselves. We are
often first to respond to aid
victims of disasters such as
floods, mine accidents, etc., in
addition to our humanitarian
aid, education and sustainable
land programs abroad, and our
immigrant aid programs here in
the US.
Mission Statement
The United
Ukrainian American Relief Committee, Inc. is
a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing
the quality of life of Ukrainian communities and
individuals throughout the world. The UUARC
achieves its goals by providing to targeted
groups: direct financial assistance in the form
of grants and loans; consultative and support
services; purchase and transfer of requested
products and services. UUARC strives for
professionalism in all aspects of its activities
in order to continue and expand its pre-eminent
role of service to the Global Ukrainian
Community by continuously enhancing its
financial resources by astute investments and
the acquisition of funds through government
grants, charitable appeals and as the
beneficiary of estates (wills).

History
The United
Ukrainian American Relief Committee, Inc. (UUARC)
is a private, non-profit charitable organization
incorporated in 1945 with the mission to provide
humanitarian assistance to immigrants and needy
individuals throughout the world. The UUARC’s
first relief effort was coordinated with the
President’s War Relief Control Board and
resettled 90,000 refugees from Ukraine after
World War II. Since then the UUARC has continued
to conduct humanitarian assistance programs,
working with the U.S. Agency for International
Development, the American Red Cross, CARE, the
United Nations Relief Administration and the
United Way.
The UUARC,
headquartered in Philadelphia, PA is governed by
a board of 21 individuals who represent a
diverse cross-section of the Ukrainian American
cultural, educational and business community in
the United States. The Executive Board meets
monthly to coordinate all financial,
administrative and program development
activities. In addition to its headquarters in
Philadelphia and two fully staffed offices in
Ukraine, there are volunteer representatives in
major cities of the USA and Europe.
