PROGRAMS

 
Adopt-a-Grandparent - Senior "Adoption" Program - financial aid to the elderly in Ukraine.  
Soup Kitchen - in Lviv feeds homeless, elderly and infirm five days a week

Children’s Camps - UUARC sends 300+ children to summer camps throughout Ukraine, and also supports Ukrainian youth camps in the US.  
Orphans - Orphanages and boarding schools throughout Ukraine receive donations of clothing and personal items, computers and bicycles.
Holiday Student Exchange - Children from orphanages visit other parts of Ukraine for the Christmas and Easter Holidays in a cultural exchange program.  
Assistance Committee - The Assistance Committee receives and processes requests for assistance. The requests are reviewed and granted when possible.  
Farm Aid - Loans to emergent farms for start-up costs.  
Information Bureau - the program based in UUARC headquarters provides legal counsel and information on immigration issues.  
Vocational Training Program - for disadvantaged and disabled children was established in 1993 in eleven youth homes in Western Ukraine with USAID funding, and jointly administered by World Learning, Inc. and UUARC. It is a self-sustaining program.
"Nadia" - the thrift store opened in Lviv during the 1993-1996 Grant is still self-sustaining, selling donated clothing and products made by special-needs children trained in the woodworking and sewing shops.
Eyeglass Program - started in 1997 in thirteen eastern regions of Ukraine. Over 10,000 orphans were examined and received new eyeglasses.
Educational Programs - since 1991.
  • Over fifty universities in Ukraine have been provided with complete sets of Encyclopedia Britannica.

  • 50 small printing presses were funded

  • Over 10,000 books, 1,000 Webster's Dictionaries and 20 computers were donated to schools and libraries

Medical and Relief Assistance Program - since 1991.
  • Medical supplies, equipment and over the counter medicines were donated to 28 hospitals in Eastern and Western Ukraine.

  • Financial aid, food and clothing are distributed via UUARC offices in Ukraine to the impoverished, accident victims, coal miners, orphans and large families in Ukraine.

  • Shoe program - new shoes supplied to 1000 orphans in Luhansk.

  • Clothing and financial assistance is given to orphanages in Romania, Poland, and Bosnia Herzegovina.

Agricultural Project Brazil - UUARC established an agricultural fund, which grants mortgages to poor farmers in Brazil.
