The 23rd General Meeting of the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee (UUARC) took place November 5, 2016 in the Home Office in Philadelphia. The meeting was chaired by Borys Pawluk, and Ulana Prociuk was the secretary. UUARC President Dr. Larissa Kyj delivered a report including the aid that was provided during and after the Revolution of Dignity, as well as assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the Maidan uprisings, UUARC purchased or transferred a total of $375,000 in humanitarian aid. Later, $1,000 was provided by the Ukrainian American community to each family of the perished heroes of the “Heavenly Hundred” who were killed during the Maidan protests. From 2013 until June 2016, UUARC shipped 16 40-foot containers to Ukraine, containing medical equipment, two ambulances, rehabilitative equipment, clothing, and other aid. The front-line troops in Ukraine receive thousands of units of “QuikClot” hemostatic agents, “Olaes” trauma bandages, wound-stitching material, warm clothing, socks, boots, warmers, radio transmitters, body vests, etc.
Reports were also delivered by Secretary Ulana Prociuk and Treasurer Vasyl Litkevich, and by Luba Siletsky Head of the Relief Consulting Committee. Siletsky noted the significant increase in the number of requests for financial aid that UUARC receives. The Relief Consulting Committee received 793 requests for assistance over the last three years; 670 of these were approved for a total of $201,000 in humanitarian aid.
