Major Achievements

  • At the last General Assembly of the Ukrainian World Congress held in Kyiv, their Social Services Committee reported that during the 5-year reporting period, UUARC provided $4,097,485.00 in aid to Ukraine, far exceeding funding by other Ukrainian organizations in the diaspora. 

 

  •  UUARC, through World Learning, has implemented an educational program teaching  employable skills to children with disabilities in 13 orphanages in Ukraine.

 

  • UUARC, with the Wheelchair Foundation, financed and distributed five containers of wheelchairs.

 

  • UUARC has obtained financing and procured ambulances and small medical equipment for 13 children’s hospitals in non-major cities in Ukraine (rayonni centers).

 

  • UUARC has obtained funding for renovation of orphanages and provides annual St. Nicholas gifts for orphans and children from impoverished families, conducts cultural exchange programs and summer camps for children.

 

  • UUARC runs an ‘Adopt-a-Grandparent’ program, where sponsors in the U.S. help support the needy elderly in Ukraine (since 1999 to present).

 

  • UUARC supports 4 Soup Kitchens:  Lviv (since 1996), Mykolayiv, Mykolayiv obl. (since 2006), Mykolayiv obl. (since 2007), Nova Odesa (since 2008), Ponornytsia, Chernihiv obl. (since 2011).

 

  • UUARC has conducted an annual educational program “From Childhood to Taras” on an average in 7 oblasts (regions) per year.  Every oblast in Ukraine has had the opportunity to participate (since 2007).

 

  • UUARC has distributed over 200 risographs in Ukraine.

 

  • UUARC has translated, published and distributed thousands of copies of the ‘Mother and Child’ book addressing prenatal care and child development, and ‘Human Anatomy’ books addressing health issues.

 

  • UUARC designed, printed and distributed 100,000 HIV prevention and informational brochures.

 

  • UUARC has responded to mining accidents in Krasnodar-Luhansk oblast, airplane crash in Lviv, floods in the Carpathian Mountains, floods in Nova Odesa, the H1N1 flu epidemic.

 

  • In 1985, UUARC started a Brazilian Land Fund and partnered with an NGO in Prudentopolis to help indigent farmers by providing credit and teaching farming skills. To date the program sustains itself with no new financing on our part.  We are provided with semi-annual reports.

 

  • Over the past 20 years, UUARC has sent over 70 containers to Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Romania with clothing, shoes and medical supplies.

 

  • UUARC has an Assistance Committee which reviews and appropriates monetary aid to the sick and needy, based on a monthly budget of $5,000.

 

  • UUARC aids sick children and burn victims to come for treatment to the U.S.

 

  • UUARC hosts an Information Bureau for newly arrived immigrants and offers Citizenship classes twice a year since 1991, with a 100% success rate.

 

  • UUARC has partnered with charitable organization Caritas Sambir-Drohobych; charitable organization Ukrainian Family (ukrajinska Rodyna); the educational organization ‘Prosvita’ and many others.

 

  • UUARC has been approved for the Limited Excess Property Program (LEPP) Grant for $1,000,000 per year in property for two years.

 

  • UUARC has been instrumental in obtaining funding for seriously ill children and young adults.
