Fire Relief - Fall 2020

FIRE IN THE LUHANSK 
REGION

On September 30, 2020, the Luhansk region was engulfed in a devastating fire. The fire broke out in three areas and spread with lightning force due to strong gusts of wind. The First Ukrainian Information Channel 5 explained these fires as follows: “The occupiers are organizing sabotage in the“ gray zones ”of the uncontrolled Armed Forces. New outbreaks of fire arise as a result of shelling by Russia "incendiary bullets" or special missiles. ”

The fire spread to 13 thousand acres and caused a great disaster. Entire villages were burned and the fire destroyed more than 300 houses and about 180 people were hospitalized. People have lost everything they gained by hard work all their lives. The villages of Sirotyne, Voronovo and Smolyaninovo suffered the most. The state compensates people, but not completely.

The office of the Branch of the United Ukrainian American Auxiliary Committee in Kyiv received an appeal from the village of Sirotyne. 15 elderly people were left without appropriate medication. The school where 100 children study needs a boiler. Unfortunately, last year these children were also without hot water. Many people will live in outbuildings and need gas stoves. 

People also need household equipment: shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, buckets, work gloves. In the second request, for children in Voronovo and Sirotino they ask for beds, school supplies - notebooks, books, "Kobzars" for each class, disinfectants and winter boots for children.

This summer, children in Smolyaninovo were included in a shoe program for needy children, which ZUADK implemented instead of summer camps, which could not take place due to COVID-19.

The director of the UUARC office in Kyiv writes, "We hope that we will turn to the UUARC donors for help to the Luhansk region's firefighters and wish that God will reward you and your families with good health and various blessings for your sincere donations."

«ПОЖЕЖІ НА ЛУГАНЩИНІ»

30 вересня 2020 р. Луганщину охопила руйнівна пожежа. Вогонь спалахнув у трьох районах вздовж зони розмежування і розповсюджувався з блискавичною силою із-за сильних поривів вітру. Перший Український Інформаційний канал 5 так пояснив ці пожежі: “Окупанти влаштовують диверсії в «сірих зонах» непідконтрольних ЗСУ. Нові осередки вогню виникають в наслідок обстрілів зі сторони Росії «запальними кулями» або спеціяльними ракетами. ….”. 

Пожежа поширилась на 13 тис. гектарів і наробила великого лиха. Горіли цілі села і вогонь знищив понад 300 будинків та біля 180 осіб опинилися в лікарнях. Люди втратили все, що здобували нелегкою працею все життя. Найбільше постраждали села Сиротине,  Вороново  і Смолянинове.  Держава компенсує людей, але не в повністю.

До канцелярії Філії Злученого Українського Американського Допомогового Комітету в Києві прийшло звернення з села Сиротине. 15 чоловік похилого віку залишилися без відповідних ліків. В школі де навчається 100 дітей потрібно бойлер. На жаль минулого року ці діти також були без гарячої води. Багато людей будуть жити в господарських пристройках і їм потрібні газові пічки. Людям теж потрібний господарський інвентар: лопати — землю копати, лопати — шуфлі,  тачки, граблі, відра, робочі рукавиці. В другій прозьбі, для дітей у Вороново і Сиротино просять постелі, шкільне приладдя — зошити, книжки, «Кобзарі» для кожної кляси, дезінфекуючі засоби та зимові черевики для дітей. Цього літа діти в Смоляниновa були включені в програму взуття для потребуючих дітей, яку ЗУАДК перепровадив замість літних таборів, які не могли відбутися через COVID-19. 

Директорка канцелярії ЗУАДК-у в Києві пише “У великій надії звертаємось до жертводавців ЗУАДК-у про допомогу погорільцям Луганщини і бажаємо, щоб Бог за Ваші щирі пожертви сторицею нагородив Вас і Ваші родини міцним здоров‘ям і різними благодатями.”
