UUARC’s Know Your Native Land program gives orphaned and disadvantaged children from Eastern Ukraine the opportunity to travel to other regions of their country, experience Ukrainian traditions, and learn more about their national heritage.


Through educational exchanges, visits with host families, and organized activities, the program introduces children to the history, language, and cultural diversity of Ukraine.


A central part of the program brings children from Eastern Ukraine together with families in Western Ukraine, where they experience traditional Ukrainian Christmas and Easter celebrations. Living with host families allows participants to take part in holiday preparations, attend religious and community gatherings, and become familiar with customs that may differ from those practiced in their home regions. These exchanges also encourage friendships between children and families from different parts of Ukraine.


The program extends beyond holiday visits through summer camps and educational travel. Children have opportunities to explore Ukraine’s cities, historical landmarks, natural landscapes, and cultural sites while participating in recreational and educational activities. For many orphans and children from disadvantaged backgrounds, these trips provide experiences that would otherwise be financially inaccessible, including the opportunity to travel beyond their home communities and discover more of their country.


By bringing together children and families from Eastern and Western Ukraine, Know Your Native Land encourages greater understanding of the country’s regional traditions and shared cultural heritage. The program reflects UUARC’s longstanding support for Ukrainian youth education and the preservation of Ukrainian language, history, and national identity.

For more than 80 years, UUARC has provided humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians through donations, community partnerships, and volunteer efforts. Financial contributions help support educational exchanges, cultural programs, and travel opportunities for orphaned and disadvantaged children throughout Ukraine.
