Celebrating 75 Years

UUARC 75th Anniversary Jubilee Celebration

On October 12, 2019, the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee (UUARC) celebrated its 75th Jubilee at the Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Nearly 200 guests attended the gathering, including Ukrainian Catholic and Orthodox clergy, representatives of Ukrainian organizations, community leaders, volunteers, and longtime supporters.

The evening recognized Dr. Larissa Kyj, Luba Siletsky, and Metodij Boretskyj for their years of dedication and service to UUARC. Special guests from Ukraine included Rev. Stepan Sus, Vera Prynko, and Andriy Duda. Musical performances by pianists Anna and Dmytro Shelest and the Prometej male chorus added to the celebration.

Founded in Philadelphia in 1944, UUARC is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit humanitarian relief organization, recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS since 1945. Established to assist Ukrainians displaced by World War II, the organization helped resettle more than 70,000 refugees in the United States and expanded its humanitarian efforts over subsequent decades to support vulnerable communities in Ukraine and throughout the Ukrainian diaspora.

Built on generations of volunteer leadership, charitable giving, and grassroots community support, UUARC maintained an active humanitarian mission long before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Public IRS filings show that the organization received more than $1.7 million in charitable contributions during 2018 and 2019, with nearly $7 million in net assets reported at the end of 2019. Its leadership reported no executive compensation during those years, reflecting a longstanding tradition of volunteer service.



The 75th Jubilee recognized the people and communities whose generosity sustained UUARC through decades of humanitarian work. Their contributions helped establish a legacy of service that continues today, more than 80 years after the organization’s founding.
