Through our UUARC Medical and Humanitarian Assistance Committee, we have helped individuals and families in Ukraine who cannot afford essential medical treatment, equipment, and everyday necessities.


Since January 2002, UUARC’s Assistance Committee has received and processed more than 3,000 requests for aid, including wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs, crutches, eyeglasses, and other medical supplies, as well as financial assistance for lifesaving procedures, rehabilitation, and prescription medications.


Each request is reviewed individually, with assistance provided whenever resources allow. In addition to financial support, UUARC has sent hundreds of parcels containing clothing, shoes, and other necessities to Ukraine. These supplies are collected, sorted, and packed by volunteers before being shipped to UUARC offices in Ukraine for distribution to individuals and families in need.


The Assistance Committee historically operated with a monthly budget of $5,000, although growing medical needs and difficult economic conditions in Ukraine frequently pushed expenditures beyond that amount. In 2015, the committee received 191 letters requesting assistance and distributed approximately $55,250 in aid. In 2016, requests increased to 462, with $97,057 in assistance provided. By November 2017, UUARC had already received 513 requests and distributed $70,800 in financial aid.


These figures reflect both the increasing demand for assistance and UUARC’s longstanding commitment to providing direct humanitarian relief. The program relies on financial contributions and donated supplies from individuals, families, and community organizations. Their support enables UUARC to respond to requests for medical care, rehabilitation, mobility equipment, and other essential needs throughout Ukraine.

For more than 80 years, UUARC has provided humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians through donations, community partnerships, and volunteer efforts. Financial contributions help support programs that assist Ukrainian immigrants and families as they establish their lives in the United States.
